1. Information we collect
The information we process depends on the features you use. You can use many of Avoc’s core recipe-management features without giving us your name or contact information.
Recipe and app content
Avoc stores the recipes, ingredients, instructions, photos, tags, grocery items, preferences, and other content you add. This content is stored on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, it is also stored in your private iCloud database so it can sync across devices signed in to your Apple Account.
Account information
If you create an account for Recipe Chat, we process an account identifier and the information needed for your chosen sign-in method. This can include your email address and authentication-provider identifiers. Sign-in is handled by trusted third-party services. We do not receive the password for a third-party account you use to sign in.
Recipe Chat and AI content
When you use Recipe Chat, we process the messages you submit, the assistant’s responses, and information needed to carry out your request. If you ask the assistant to work with a saved recipe, relevant recipe details may be sent as part of that request. Requests may also include search queries, source URLs, and tool results. Do not include sensitive personal information in a chat prompt.
Purchases and subscriptions
The app marketplace processes payments for Avoc Gold. We and providers that help manage subscriptions receive purchase and entitlement information such as product, transaction, subscription-status, and app-user identifiers. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
Contact and technical information
If you contact us, we receive the information you provide, such as your name, email address, message, and any diagnostic details you choose to send. Service providers may also process limited technical information needed to deliver and secure their services, such as IP address, device or browser type, operating-system and app version, request timestamps, and security logs. The app marketplace may separately provide aggregated statistics and diagnostics from users who choose to share them with developers.
Camera, photos, and sensors
Avoc accesses the camera or photo library only after you grant permission and use a feature that needs it. Text recognition for scanned recipes occurs on your device. Hands-free cooking may use the device’s proximity sensor; Avoc does not use that sensor to identify you or build a profile.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide, personalize, maintain, and sync Avoc’s features;
- authenticate users and protect accounts and services from abuse;
- process subscription status and unlock paid features;
- answer support requests and communicate about the Services;
- operate Recipe Chat, web search, recipe imports, and requested app actions;
- diagnose problems, maintain security, and improve reliability; and
- comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use your recipe content to advertise to you.
3. Storage and disclosure
Recipe data remains on your device unless you enable a feature that requires a transfer, such as cloud sync, Recipe Chat, a web import, sharing, or contacting support. We disclose information only as needed for the purposes described here.
Service providers
We use trusted providers for app distribution, billing, optional cloud sync, authentication, subscription management, AI and search features, hosting, security, and support. These providers may process only the information reasonably needed to perform their services and may handle it under their own terms and privacy policies.
Imported websites and external links
When you import a recipe or open an external link, your device or a service provider may request content from the source website. That website can receive ordinary web-request information under its own policy.
Legal and business disclosures
We may preserve or disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or security issues, enforce our agreements, or complete a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of the business.
4. Data retention
On-device content remains until you delete it or remove the app and its local data. Content synced through iCloud is controlled through your Apple Account and may remain there until you delete it or remove synced data.
Account information is generally kept while your Recipe Chat account is active. Providers may retain records for a limited period after account deletion and may keep short-lived security, rate-limit, and abuse-prevention logs under their applicable retention policies.
We retain support communications, subscription records, and related business records only as long as reasonably needed for support, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
5. Legal bases
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process personal information as needed to perform our contract with you, based on your consent, to comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as operating, securing, supporting, and improving the Services.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- request access to or a copy of personal information we control;
- correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion of information or your Recipe Chat account;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive portable information where applicable; and
- withdraw consent, appeal our decision, or contact your privacy regulator.
You can delete app content, manage iCloud and device permissions in system settings, manage subscriptions through your Apple Account, and sign out of Recipe Chat. For other requests, email support@avocapp.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no sale or advertising-share opt-out to exercise.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your device and accounts secure, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
8. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13 or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them without legally sufficient parental consent. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of this section.
9. International transfers
We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data-protection laws than your country. Where required, recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual safeguards are used for international transfers.
10. Website and cookies
The Avoc website does not currently use advertising cookies or its own cross-site analytics. Hosting, security, and font providers may process standard request logs or use essential technologies needed to provide their services. If we add non-essential cookies or analytics, we will update this policy and provide consent controls where required.
Because there is no uniform standard for browser Do Not Track signals, the website does not respond to them as a separate technical instruction. This does not change our commitment not to sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
11. Policy updates
We may update this policy as the Services, providers, or laws change. We will post the revised policy here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice when required.
